dynamite.jpg

This is quite an old book, published in 1987. however, the theories and lesson inside still valid and you can use this book to practice basic approaches. This book has all of the details that beginner should know. Even though the illustrations and pictures may look a bit old but I thinks you will find what Muay Thai in the past looks like. In fact, these kind of pictures and illustrations are also very rare these days, so if you are a Muay Thai stuff collector and need something other than the lessons, such as historical pictures of Muay Thai, this book will worth your money. But this not the main benefits that you will get from this book, but rather the comprehensive details that you will learn.

Muay Thai Magazine: Internation Kick Boxer

This magazine looks terrific to me even though the tile of the magazine metioned about kick boxing. I have not had a chance to have a look inside of this magazine yet but from roughly browsing its table of content, I could say that the story inside the magazine are really interesting. For example, for the 2008 issue, they have

• K-1 Preview 2008
• Dutch vs Thai Training Methods
• A Lot Can Happen in Eight Years
• Mark Staiti Steps Up
• Days of the Mad Dog
• Addicted to Kickboxing
• Ifma World Championships
• Hot August Fights
• 15 Memorable Moments
• Slowinski’s Whirlwind Seminar
• From the Archives
• Ask the Doc
• Kiwi Legend Retires
• Thai News
• Zambo Still Greece Lightning

So it is obvious that the magazine not only has articles and stories about news and events but also variety on tips and technique on training. Then it might be good for you to subscribe for this good one and enjoy the sake of Muay Thai.

Muaymag.com is an online magazine which has a lot of updates and event on Muay Thai. The most obvious advantage of this website is about all aspect of Thai fighters and event updates in Thailand. But not only that, there are also loads of useful articles about Muay Thai and related categories such as Muay Boran and general boxing. What I like the most about this magazine is the “Gossip and Society” section where contains a lot of stories about people in Thailand. This may not favourite for international guest but very useful read for Thais like me.

This is a training-focused Muay Thai book and very much suitable for all novices who want to capture the right start. Even though I personally do not agree with the title “Muay Thai Kick Boxing” because there are already some discussions and conclusion widely about the different between Muay Thai and kick boxing. However, the title of the book doest not take into account for this review at all. What I will say about is the comprehensive detail for beginners who want to confident in kick start the self-practice. The picture and illustration inside the book are very detailed, which I could not be found in any other book. This book may not match the needs for intermediate and advanced learners because all of the content are about basic practice and body conditioning, but if you would like to check in which approach that you need improvement, this book may help you.

Although it is not a Muay Thai specific magazine, but I am really appreciate the effort if the editor tem who invented such a quality work. I may not have much experience about other kind of martial arts such as MMA and Kick Boxing but in my feeling is that this online magazine contains very useful topics of them all. Also, the magazine has devoted one section specific to Muay Thai and what I can see here is the most updated on recent events (it looks like this magazine has almost every Muay Thai and martial arts event that organizing over the world). Many of comprehensive articles about Muay Thai, written by many of expert writers and covers all aspects of Muay Thai. There are also interview column which gather from many reputable fighters, not only Muay Thai but also other martial arts so you will be able to expand your vision and knowledge.

Magazine Review : Nak Muay Magazine

The magazine is one of the most comprehensive English Muay Thai magazine I’ve ever seen. There are variety of story and about Muay Thai and all around the issues that related to Muay Thai. There are many parts of this magazine that I alike but the most favourite one is the column which talk about Muay Thai competition and all other story in Thailand. This is not only the interesting topics that the editor picks up to present in the magazine, but what I like is the detail being told is very much like Thai-style story telling, which make me feel like I am reading Muay Thai magazine that wrote and sell here in Thailand. This demonstrated that the writer and editor have very strong experience and knowledge of what’s happening in Thailand. The magazine available for free in PDF format on the website www.martialconcept.com

Book Review :Muay Thai Basics: Introductory Thai Boxing Techniques

book3.jpg

This book is purely for Muay Thai beginners who need to learn the comprehensive theory of Muay Thai weapons and technique. The book provide every detail about Muay Thai that beginners should know. Right form the very basic to intermediate level. I think this book has its advantage in terms of providing only information about Muay Thai basics, so the content about weapons, tips and technique are in-dept and comprehensive. Unlike any other Muay Thai books that the writer tried to cover all of aspect of Muay Thai so the detail of those books may cover a lot of topics but very lack of the detail. I believe that this book will give you the right start and also the illustrations are very clear and concise. Apart from that, the writer, Christoph Delp, is a Muay Thai coach who has been extensively trained in Thailand, so there will be no doubt about the accuracy and purely original of Muay Thai description provided in this book.

Book Review : Fighting Strategies of Muay Thai: Secrets of Thailand’s Boxing Camps

This is the book that I believe that can be one-stop-shop for Muay Thai fighters in any level. In fact, there are two writers of this book, and one of them has extensive experience from being a professional Muay Thai and coach for many years. Even thought the most part of the content in this book is about techniques and advanced strategies, but it’s still suitable for all level and also including any one who want to learn basic element of Muay Thai. Apart from the section about Muay Thai, the writer is also experienced in many kinds of martial arts, so you will experience the knowledge of other martial arts that he gave in this books as well as the information related to Muay Thai such as mysterious techniques that not regularly found in Muay Thai training and how to prepare for Muay Thai fight which is quite rare to see in other Muay Thai book.

Book Review : “Muay Thai: A Living Legacy”

I always believe that no matter how good the book it is, it just can not a replacement of the real practice. Learners will never be success by only practicing from a book and reading alone, and I never thought that there will not be any of the books that provides such a comprehensive detail. But when I experienced the second edition of this book, I realised that there is, at least, one good Muay Thai book that you should never missed, particularly for the beginner who want to take basic steps and some fundamental knowledge of Muay Thai. The book includes almost all aspect of Muay thai but what I like the most is about picture and illustrations. You will find illustrations to teach you step-by-step for all of Muay Thai weapons such as Waikru Ram Muay, punch, kicks, elbow, knee-kick etc. I strongly recommend if you are the beginners who want to make a good start.

Muay Thaimes magazine

While MMA and Boxing have multiple publication dedicated to their sports, it’s rare to find a magazine devoted almost exclusively to MuayThai outside of Thailand. The new publication, “Muay Thaimes” has now filled this need. This publication is over 50 pages of news coverage of MuayThai events, gyms, and fighters across the United States and abroad. There are great write-ups and tantalizing photos of fighters in action.

Muay Thaimes magazine

Mr. Reiter is putting a lot of effort into this publication. He travels across the country and internationally covering MuayThai events interviewing the key players in the sport, including fighters, promoters, officials, and coaches.
