It is quite strange that there are so many people out there criticise, wonder and talk about Tony Jaa and his Muay Thai martial art skills, but I never mentioned about this into the blog. However, in my perspective, there was not much to talk about him if we really to mention about his skills of martial arts. Because all poeple know that he is excellent. But there is something to bare in mind that it is something related to the “acting” skills which sometimes it looks quite a bit different in terms of sport Muay Thai. So then if you watch any of Tony’s movie, it is ok only for Muay Thai arts appreciation, but the real fight is another topic.

Thanks screen shot from Official K-1 Website

Yoshihiro Sato (Japan) VS Buakaw Por. Pramuk (Thailand)

Buakaw and Yoshihiro met once in the World Max 2008 tournament held in February 2008 and at that time, Buakaw won by the outvote. However, Sato was not an easy job for Buakaw and actually was very trouble to him as at the end of final round, Buakaw was almost taken down by Sato’s punch.

Individual Strength:
Sato: Speed and Accuracy
Not noly for the fight with Buakaw, Sato met many of great professional Muay Thai fighter such as Kaoklai Kaennorsing and he actually demonstrated the uniqueness of accurate attacks. It is obviously shown in the fight with Buakhaw that he perform less attacks but each one was really on the target so this could be, again, very dangerous for Buakhaw.

Buakhaw: Speed, Power and Technique.
He is almost the perfect fighter in Muay Thai history. There is no fighter in his home country in the same weight division who want to beat him. Obviously the power of the attack is the most obvious strength of Buakhaw plus some technique of Muay Thai. These strength then make him become advantage for this coming fight again.

Individual Weakness:
Sato: Power
The most obvious pint for Sato in my opinion is the power of the attack. His weapons almost nothing for the opponent if without the accuracy that he is very keen on. Both kicks and punches seems not to make major trouble for his opponents in the past, other than get him scoring at the end of the fight.

Buakhaw: Defensive Technique.
Buakhaw is not really focus on defensive technique. He could fight as long as he could stand on the ring, even though he was heavily attacked. This is the nature of Buakhaw, who is the original excellent “fighter” not “boxer” style.

Prediction of the result.
This match is very hard to predict because I believe that Sato should learn some points from the last fight and improve as well as Buakhaw. Buakhaw may win again if he can maintain his standard and not too under estimate Sato’s accuracy.

Peter Aerts HL
This video reminds me to one of the most favourite fighter, Buakhaw. It is not because the big weight that they are similar but the power of the attack which they both are ready to knock the opponent down in just one effective single shot. Peter’s KO shots were so powerful, especially the high head kicks which seems no one survive after got the attacks. I noticed that Peter is a very clever fighter, the is because he can see the opportunity to use his favourite attacks when the opponent is losing control of defense and finish the fight very quickly. So this is a good practice for all of you that power is not only the key of success but also to technique as well.
